About
This Project

GPT and UrbanGrowth NSW jointly own properties over five blocks of central Newcastle centered on the Hunter Street Mall which total approximately 20,000m2 and are seeking to redevelop the site with a mix of retail, commercial, entertainment and residential uses.

At a wider level, the NSW Government plans to transform and revitalise Newcastle’s city centre to boost economic activity, making Newcastle a more vibrant place for locals and visitors, and reinforcing its role as a 21st century regional centre.

The initiatives will revitalise Hunter Street with activity focused on three key precincts to form a dynamic city centre offering, a range of experiences for the wider region and eight new crossings to link the city centre with the foreshore across the old rail corridor together with a proposed new light rail system.
