ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This project was a renovation of an existing Semi-Detached house in Bronte, Australia. The design was a collaboration between Architect Jeremey Bull from Alexander & Co. and Bruce Duyshart from Meld Strategies.
The brief for this project was to transform a tired, 1970’s 3 bedroom brick semi into a sleek contemporary finish that also integrated a range of residential home automation technologies. The physical transformation used hand hewn Bondi Sandstone blockwork, honed Himalayan sandstone paving, rendered texture coat, white poly finished joinery, hand finished oak flooring, travertine flooring and natural Alpaca undied carpet.

The brief for this project was to establish a Home Automation system that improves liveability, home comfort and security. One of the key criteria was the ability to remotely monitor and control the property using iPhone apps and web browser.
This project used a range of technologies and platforms that were integrated over time. Scenarios that the home automation platform enables include:
Saved lighting scenes.
Automatic Path lighting when front gate opened after sunset.
Movement sensors in hall and bathroom to illuminate space to 20% lighting after sunset.
Monitoring of power, hot water, cold water and rain water usage.
Mobile access to security cameras and home alarm system.
Mobile access to garden irrigation system.
Mobile access to home automation system.
Mobile access to audio amp and music distribution.
SMS notification for security events.
